Club Competitions

As the start of the season is sometimes very slow, it has been decided to hold a competition from the 3rd March until 15th March 09 and from the 15th June until the end of the trout season, 30th September, all dates inclusive.

The aim of the competition is to catch the longest grayling on our fishery. As you are aware last year saw a considerable increase in the numbers and size of grayling in the river. Participating members are asked to record all fish caught and include them in their catch returns.

There will be trophy awarded in each period which will be passed on to successive winners. Please read the rules below and if you wish to take part, click the link so you can be registered.

This competition is run on trust so rather than estimating the lengths of fish caught, please use a ruler or similar, imperial or metric measurements will be accepted. A photo would also be good!

RULES:
1. Only fish caught between the dates above will be counted.
2. The fish must be measured from the tip of mouth to the V in the tail.
3. All fish must be returned alive.
4. Only fly fishing methods are allowed.
5. A general location is to be reported along with the date.
6. Also please indicate if the fish was caught on a dry or wet fly.
